Primary and Secondary Industries in Zhejiang Saw a Lower Proportion in Electricity Consumption of Whole Society

According to the preliminary statistics from Zhejiang Electric Power Company, in 2018, the province's total electricity consumption was 453.3 billion kWh, an increase of 8.1% over the previous year; the highest load of the whole society was 80.3 million kilowatts, an increase of 4.97% over the previous year.

Electricity consumption is an important data reflecting the development of social economy. Judging from the electricity consumption data, last year, Zhejiang’s economic and social development showed the following trend: the primary industry, with agriculture and extractive industry as the core, developed stably, the manufacture-based secondary industry grew rapidly, and the service-based tertiary industry showed a pleasing growth. Among them, the primary industry used 2.12 billion kWh, an increase of 6.17% over the previous year, accounting for 0.47% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, a decrease of 0.01% over the previous year. The secondary industry consumed 324.38 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, an increase of 6.88% over the previous year, accounting for 71.56% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, a decrease of 0.83% over the previous year. The tertiary industry used 66.5 billion kWh, an increase of 13.03% over the previous year, accounting for 14.67% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, an increase of 0.64% year on year.

The electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 60.28 billion kWh, an increase of 9.74% over the previous year, accounting for 13.3% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, an increase of 0.20% over the previous year.
