Governor Yuan Jiajun Meets Guests at the World Tourism Alliance - Xianghu Dialogue

On September 8, Governor Yuan Jiajun met in Hangzhou with foreign and domestic guests attending the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) - Xianghu Dialogue, including Li Jinzao, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Duan Qiang, WTA President, and Jason Westbury, WTA Vice President and CEO of the Australian Travel Agents Union.

Du Jiang, Wang Wenxu and Xu Liyi, members of the Party Group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended the meeting.


Yuan said it was a historic event for WTA to locate its headquarters in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang will make every effort to promote the construction of WTA, and take this opportunity to further give play to its ecological advantages, vigorously develop regional tourism, and make beautiful Zhejiang a big garden and the best tourism destination in China, so as to accelerate the promotion of green development and high-quality development.


Li Jinzao thanked Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government for their strong support to the construction of WTA. He hoped that through the practical cooperation between the two sides, Zhejiang would give full play to its excellent natural resources and geographical advantages, and create a "golden card" for Chinese tourism and help the garden-like picturesque Zhejiang go global.


It was reported that the "World Tourism Alliance - Xianghu Dialogue" was held in Xiaoshan District on Sept 9. The event will give full play to the "spillover effect" of the location of the WTA headquarters in Hangzhou, fully promote the globalization of tourism in Zhejiang, and fully display the unique charm of "garden-like picturesque Zhejiang". Leaders of tourism associations and world famous tourism enterprises from the United States, Russia, France, Germany and Japan attended the relevant activities. On Dec 17, 2017, the WTA and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, with the league's headquarters officially located in Xianghu, and planned to be completed by 2020.
