On August 22nd, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce held a media briefing for the participation of Zhejiang Province in the first China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as “Import Expo”), to announce the latest preparations. According to reports, since the launch of the exhibition in December last year, this province has actively attracted foreign companies to participate in this exhibition. By the end of June, a total of 480 overseas enterprises had registered on the official website, and the registration area had reached 19,400 square meters, exceeding the expected target and taking the lead in the exhibition work carried out nationwide. “When inviting overseas exhibitors, we have given full play to the advantages and the resources of business partners of private enterprises in Zhejiang.” Chen Zhicheng, Director of the Foreign Trade Management Department of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced.

In terms of purchasers, this province has established Zhejiang Trading Group and Ningbo Trading Group and 13 trading sub-groups at the municipal level, at the provincial state-owned enterprises level, and at Alibaba level, and made efforts to promote the “10-100-1000-10000” project, namely 10 special procurement fairs for imported goods, 100 import platform companies, 1,000 key import companies, and 10,000 buyers. By 9:00 am on August 22nd, a total of 16,460 procurement enterprises and 30,172 individuals had registered through the official registration system, ranking third among all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China.

It is learned that at present, the imported products in Zhejiang are mainly bulk commodities, like primary shape plastics, iron ore and refined oil, as well as mechanical products. These products mainly serve industrial development and product export. Meanwhile, the imported consumer goods showed a rapid growth in recent years though accounting for a relatively small proportion.
