Che Jun Met with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir

On August 18, Che Jun, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in Hangzhou.

Provincial leaders Yuan jiajun, Chen Jinbiao and Wu Jing, senior Malaysian officials Guo Suqin, Liu Weiqiang and Inatis, and Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian were present at the meeting.

Che expressed his welcome to Mahathir's visit and briefed him on the economic and social development in Zhejiang Province. He said that Zhejiang is now leading a new round of opening up with the "Belt and Road" initiative, striving to build an important "Belt and Road"hub. As an important pivot country along the “Belt and Road”, Malaysia is also an important partner of Zhejiang in Asean. The exchange and cooperation between Zhejiang and Malaysia has a profound foundation, huge potential and broad prospect. We are ready to work with Malaysia to seize the development opportunities of the Belt and Road initiative, and conduct mutually beneficial cooperation at a wider, deeper and higher level, especially in cross-border e-commerce, automobile manufacturing, smart city and tourism promotion, so as to bring more benefits to the people of both places.

Mahathir thanked Zhejiang for its warm reception and appreciated Hangzhou for its beautiful environment and advanced urban management. “every time I visit Zhejiang, I see new developments and changes here, and many of them are worth learning from,” he said.China's development is conducive to Malaysia, and China's "Belt and Road" initiative is bringing tangible benefits to countries along the belt and road. Malaysia is willing to strengthen connectivity and comprehensive cooperation with China in all aspects, and hopes to establish closer ties with Zhejiang, strengthen personnel exchanges in all aspects and deepen cooperation in the fields of agricultural products processing, automobile and tourism. At the same time, more enterprises from Zhejiang are welcome to invest in Malaysia and develop together.

During his stay in Zhejiang Province, Mahathir visited Alibaba Group and Geely Group.
