Zhejiang Saw a Year-on-year Growth of 1.8% in CPI in May.

According to a survey conducted by the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Zhejiang, the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.8% year-on-year and decreased by 0.4% compared with the previous month in May this year.

As the main promoter of CPI growth, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol in May rose by 1.0% year-on-year. Among them, the price of eggs rose by 11.6%, that of fresh vegetables by 9.6%,  that of poultry meat by 7.4%, that of restaurant meals by 2.5%, that of aquatic products by 1.9%,  that of milk by 1.3%, and that of grains by 1.0%. However, the prices of poultry meat and fresh fruits declined, especially that of pork, which fell by 12.9% year-on-year.

In May, the consumer price index of the residents returned to the “1” era. The year-on-year increase this month was 0.4 percent lower than that in the previous month.

The prices of food, tobacco and alcohol in May fell by 1.3% from those in the previous month. Among them, the price of fresh fruits decreased by 9.6%, that of fresh vegetables by 3.0%, that of aquatic products by 3.0%, and that of poultry meat by 1.9% (with that of pork by 2.7%). However, the prices of eggs, tobacco and alcohol, and restaurant meals rose to varying degrees.

In May, the consumer price index fell by 0.4% month-on-month, which was closely related to the adjustment of the prices of meat, vegetables and fruits, air tickets, and clothing prices.

According to a survey conducted the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Zhejiang, the producer price for industrial products in Zhejiang in May rose by 4.3% year-on-year, 0.9% higher than the year-on-year growth in the previous month, but that rebounded month-on-month, rising by 0.6%. The purchase price for industrial products increased by 5.6% year-on-year and rose by 0.6% month-on-month.
