Zhejiang the “Grand Garden” Attracts Millions of Tourists on May Day

According the statistics from the Provincial Travel Information Center, by 1 p.m. on May 1st, tourists that came to the 4A and 5A scenic areas of the province had reached 7,461,300 person-times.
Family trips are becoming more and more popular nowadays. In various scenic spots, such as the Pastoral Amusement Park in Anji, the Hengdian Movie City, the Pig Planet Park in Haiyan, and Hangzhou Children’s Park, family tourists were a common scene. Ding Jiyan, president of the Four-Season Fruit Association of Dingzhai Township, Shangyu City, told the journalist that his orchard and mulberry garden received thousands of visitors every day.
During the May 1st Holiday, all kinds of celebrating activities were held in various places. In Beitang Village, Lincheng Town, Changxing County, a village music festival attracted a large number of tourists from the Yangtze River Delta. Next, the village would hold more activities at the Dragon Boat Festival and the Moon Festival to attract more tourists, said Tang Xiaoli, a member of the Party Branch Committee of Beitang Village. The 14th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival in Hangzhou attracted countless fans from all parts of the country. The rural tourist festival in Ningbo attracted many tourists to visit the farmers’ families to eat and live there.
On the last day of the vacation, the free-toll expressway network of the province saw a traffic rush of returned tourists. According to the Provincial Emergency Traffic Operation Center, from 00 a.m. to 16 p.m. on May 1st, the expressways in the whole province received a total traffic flow of 3,482,000 vehicles at exits and entrances, increasing 4.1% on a year-on-year basis, of which 3,092,000 were small-size cars, increasing 4% on a year-on-year basis.
The train passengers in the whole province amounted to 1,293,000 person-times, increasing 0.6% on a year-on-year basis; the airline passengers amounted to 176.500 person-times, increasing 4.06% on a year-on-year basis; and the road passengers came to 402,900 person-times, decreasing 15% on a year-on-year basis, and no passengers were detained.
