On April 26th, the National Development and Strategy Research Institute of Renmin University of China released the “Green Road-China's Economic Green Development Report 2018” in Beijing. By calculating the provincial (district, city) scale and the urban scale green development index, this institute evaluated the road to green development in 31 provinces (regions, cities) and 100 cities. On the provincial (regional, city) scale, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu ranked the top three; on the urban scale, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai ranked the top five.
In the “Annual Evaluation Results of Ecological Civilization Construction in 2016” issued by the National Bureau of Statistics at the end of 2017, Beijing, Fujian and Zhejiang rank the top three; in the “China’s Economic Green Development Report 2018,” the top three provinces are Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu. It is noticeable that Zhejiang is the only province that is in the top three in both rankings. Shi Minjun, author of the report of “A High Degree of Coordination between Economic Development and Resources and Environment in Zhejiang” and researcher at the National Development and Strategy Research Institute of Renmin University of China, said that various indicators in Zhejiang are relatively balanced, which is reflected in the fact that there are no obvious shortcomings in its economic development, sustainability and green development capabilities.
