Zhejiang CPI 3.3% up in February

The consumer price index of Zhejiang rose 3.3 percent year-on-year in February, and 1.9 percent compared with January, said Zhejiang Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics on 9 March.
Due to the influence of the Spring Festival, the prices of all kinds of commodities rose in February, with the food, tobacco and alcoholic drinks leading the way, the prices of which rose 4.1% year-on-year. The price of vegetables rose 26%, aquatic products 10.3%, eggs 9.4%, fruits 6.3%, poultry 5.7%, dining 2.1%, and grains 1.0%. Only the price of the meat dropped. Among the other seven types of prices, six rose and 1 leveled off. The prices of dwelling, education, culture and entertainment, health care, living supplies, service, transportation and communication, and clothing rose in various degrees, and the price of the rest leveled off.
Generally, the year-on-year growth rate of the consumer prices in February rose 1.6% compared with the previous month. The prices of food, tobacco and alcoholic drinks saw a sharp rise compared with last year. The prices of air tickets and travelling also rose. Due to the improvement of the people’s living standards and the increased demands for service, the prices of home service, car repair and maintenance, delivery, beauty service, hair dressing, bathing, and entertainment also saw a fast growing rate.
Compared with January, the consumer prices rose 1.9 percent due to the effect of the Spring Festival. With the rise of the prices of vegetables, aquatic products, fruits, poultry, and meats, the prices of food, tobacco and alcoholic drinks rose 4.3 percent.
