On November 13, the 48th Study Group on Asian Tax Administration and Research (SGATAR) annual meeting opened in Hangzhou. This is the third time that China hosted the SGATAR annual meeting after 1998 and 2008.

A total of 150 tax bureau directors, 3 permanent observers and other invited observers from 16 countries and regions participated in the conference. The meeting aims to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between the taxation departments of various members in the field of international taxation, and to discuss issues such as “tax services for ‘Belt and Road’” and “improving the taxation business environment”.

In recent years, the Chinese taxation departments have continuously expanded all-round pragmatic cooperation in the field of international taxation and fully served China's opening up and development strategy.

Wang Jun, Chairman of the 48th SGATAR Annual Meeting and Director of the State Administration of Taxation of China, said that China has established cooperative relations with 25 international organizations and regional tax organizations and signed bilateral tax treaties or arrangements with 110 countries and regions. It has launched 10 tax measures to serve "the Belt and Road" project, expanded eight service measures such as national tax consultation, and issued 81 investment tax guidelines for the "Belt and Road" countries. It has established the first OECD multilateral tax center in Non-OECD countries, organized 25 training courses on taxation for developing countries, and made positive contributions to building a new international tax relationship featuring win-win cooperation.
