2017 Zhejiang Public Opinion Report shows that the overall satisfaction with the public life has reached a record high.

On the morning of January 26, the Provincial Public Opinion Research Center released the Annual Report on the Public Opinion for 2017 in Zhejiang Province, analyzing the public opinion in this province from five aspects: the public's value recognition, confidence index, life experience, trust status and security experience. The data show that the general public's psychology in this province is getting better.

From the perspective of the public life, the rate of overall satisfaction with the public life in Zhejiang Province in 2017 reached 91.2%, a record high over the years. It is worth mentioning that the percentage of social security satisfaction reached as high as 89.6%, also the peak in the past four years, and the proportion of satisfaction with the living environment came close to 80% for the first time. Xu Weijie, chief expert of the research group and associate professor at Zhejiang University of Technology, said that the data show that the undertakings of water treatment and infrastructure improvement in this province have achieved remarkable results, and that the public's sense of gain and satisfaction has been substantially enhanced.

The report shows that there was a continuous steady increase in the public’s overall trust in the society in Zhejiang Province in 2017. In the meantime, the public's uncertainty in answering questions about their trust in the government showed a decrease on the whole. In particular, the ratio of the public dissatisfaction with the government's work in such areas of people’s livelihood  as education, medical care and pension. It is also worth noting that the proportion of people who hold a negative attitude toward the issue of "Are you willing to contribute to non-profit organizations such as the Red Cross and Charities?" dropped from 30.65% in 2016 to 26.7% in 2017.

In response to the public perception of safety, the report states that in 2017, the percentage of the affirmative evaluation of the public safety in this province reached 98.8% as a whole, hitting the highest record in history. However, a rise was seen in the sense of insecurity in terms of indicators such as personal information disclosure, road safety, fire safety and industrial pollution in this province in 2017.
