Zhejiang Finalizes over 80% of Petition Letters, with Biggest Penalty among Eight Provinces

At 8 a.m. on September 11, as the inspectorate staff recorded the last telephone complaint, the Second Central Environmental Protection Supervision Group temporarily concluded its work in Zhejiang.
As of 9 a.m. on September 13, the central environmental protection supervision group handed over to 6,773 petition letters the local governments and provincial departments, of which 253 are key ones. Through immediate supervision and rectification, 5,602 letters have been reported handled, accounting for more than 80% of the total. At the same time, the province has fined a total of over 200 million yuan to those who have environmental violations, accounting for about half of the total fines of the eight provinces where the fourth batch of central environmental protection supervision groups are stationed. The penalty is the biggest among the eight provinces.
"Environmental protection supervision has time nodes, and environmental protection is always ongoing." The relevant responsible person of the provincial leading group for the central environmental protection supervision work said that Zhejiang will take the supervision as an opportunity to raise the level of ecological civilization through green development.
