Zhejiang Releases 2017 Implementation Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control

Recently, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Environmental Protection officially issued The 2017 Zhejiang Implementation Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control. As 2017 is the ending year of the “Ten Measures of Air,” (also referred to as the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan 2013-2017 ) , the province has set higher targets to curb air pollution. The targets are as follows: the annual concentration of fine particles (PM2.5) continues to decline and exceeds national targets; the annual concentration of PM2.5 shall be controlled below 43 micrograms per cubic meter; the average ratio of fairly good air quality days remains above 80%; days of heavy pollution shrinks sharply; and air quality of the provincial environment improves gradually.
According to the Plan, there are seven major tasks to curb air pollution in 2017, including adjustment of energy structure, prevention and control of motor vehicle pollution, bringing industrial pollution under control, adjustment of industrial layout and structure, control of city dust soot, and rural waste gas pollution, prevention and control of vessel-source pollution in ports.
