Overall Improvement of Water Environment Quality in Zhejiang Province

Recently, the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau reported on the progress of the water pollution control action plan of our province from January to September this year. The report shows overall improvement of water environment quality in the first three quarters of this year, and the water quality of the assessment cross-sections listed in “Zhejiang Province Water Pollution Control Target Responsibility” momentarily meets the national annual assessment target, among which high quality water proportion in Hangzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Quzhou, Zhoushan, Lishui, has reached 100%. According to the Provincial Bureau of Water Conservancy, after 9 months of detailed inspection, the water conservancy system in our province has fully completed the audit in terms of pollution discharge outlets of rivers. Besides, the provincial river outfall management system has also been established, completing the river outfall information warehousing work in advance.
From January to September this year, among 103 of the provincial surface water assessment cross-sections, there are 95 commensurate or above standards of Class Ⅲ cross-sections, accounting for 92.2%; without any inferior Class V water quality sections. All sections reach water quality target of this year. In addition, the black-smelly water body is gradually eliminated. From January to September, black-smelly water body in 6 built-up areas has been completely eliminated, including Zheshan Port (from Weixing River to Xingfu Floodgate) of Gongshu District, Hui Stream (from Fengting Road to the junction of Jinhua River) of Wucheng District, Water and Electricity Profane (from Liyu Road to the Estuary) of Development Zone, Xinhe (from Kaiyuan Bridge to Zengchan Watergate) of Dinghai District, Qingfeng River (from Naiyan Road to Shuqing Bridge on its side) of Jiaojiang District, Wuyi Stream (from Lishui College to Lake Inlet) of Liandu District.
