CPI in Zhejiang Increases by 2.4% in October

Reporters learned from Zhejiang Investigation Corps of National Bureau of Statistics on November 9 that the residents’ total consumer price index of Zhejiang rose 2.4% year on year in October, up 0.4% compared with September.
In October, the prices of food, alcohol and tobacco rose by 0.3%. Among them, the prices of aquatic products, food, eggs rose 3.3%, 1.8% and 1.4% respectively; while livestock meat prices fell 5.7% (pork prices fell 7.7%) and fresh fruit prices dropped 0.9%. At the same time, the prices of the other seven categories all rose year on year.
The residents’ total consumer price index in October rose more than 0.4 percentage points compared with September. Among them, due to the expansion of the price increase of aquatic products, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol increased from lower to higher; the prices of other goods and services dropped from lower to higher by the increase of hotel accommodation price and the decrease of the price of gold jewelry.
On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price rate rose 0.4% in October, which was mainly affected by the significant increase in travel demand during the National Day holiday. Hotel accommodation, travel agency charges and air ticket prices rose 4.5%, 4.3% and 2.2% respectively. In addition, due to the price hike in refined oil products, the price of fuel for transport increased by 3.1%. The price of food dropped by 0.4% due to the decrease in prices of major fresh foods such as fresh vegetables, pork and aquatic products.
In terms of PPI, the producer prices of Zhejiang industrial producers rose 6.1% in October, an increase of 0.5% over the previous month. The producer prices of industrial producers rose 0.8% compared with September, rising for 4 consecutive months.
