Zhejiang Achieves the Goal of “500 Billion Yuan in 5 Years” with Actual Foreign Investment of 78 billion USD Since 2013

Reporters recently learned from the Provincial Department of Commerce that from January to September this year, the province’s actual foreign investment reached 13.52 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.2% (equivalent to 91.91 billion yuan, up by 13.7%), and that from 2013 to the end of September this year, the sum reached 500.35 billion yuan, achieving in advance the completion of the provincial party committee and government’s goal of “500 Billion Yuan in 5 Years”.
According to reports, this five-year (2013-2017) goal was proposed at the beginning of 2013 by the provincial party committee and government for the full implementation of the spirit of the 18th CPC Congress and the in-depth implementation of the “Eight Advantages and Eight Measures” Strategy to further develop foreign investment in our province so as to increase effective investment and promote economic transformation and upgrading. “In the past five years, the province has deepened the reform of foreign investment system, strengthened foreign investment promotion, strengthened investment promotion platform construction, fostered the introduction of new advantages of foreign investment, attracted favorable investors, and optimized services to achieve remarkable results,” an official from the Provincial Department of Commerce told reporters.
Zhejiang Province’s use of foreign capital has been expanding during the past five years. Since the beginning of 2013, the actual utilization of foreign capital has steadily increased. As of September 2017, the province has actually introduced a foreign capital of USD 78 billion, with an average annual growth rate of over 7.7%. Its national ranking has been promoted from 6th in 2012 to 4th in 2016. At the same time, the number of foreign investment projects continues to increase — in 2016 there were 442 projects respectively of a total or added investment of more than 30 million US dollars, and 100 projects of more than 100 million US dollars, respectively an increase by 92 and 60 compared with statistics of 2012.
