Tourist Transportation

 

In 2005, the transportation facilities for tourism was further improved in Zhejiang Province. The number of tourists who traveled by air, railway, road and water reached 1.606 billion in our province the whole year. It increased by 6.9% compared with that of the year before. The turnover volume of the tourists reached 84.835 billion passenger kilometers, with an increase of 6.7%.

By the end of 2005, the road mileage in our province had reached 48,600 kilometers, with an increase of 1,665 km over that of the year before. The mileage of expressways had increased from 1,475 km in 2004 to 1,866 km in 2005.

By the end of 2005, the total length of railroad lines in service in our province was 1,212 km, and the railroad lines carried 52.74 million passengers during the whole year—an increase of 15.5% over the number of 2004.

By the end of 2005, there were altogether 7 civil (civil and military) airports such as Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. There were altogether more than 200 domestic and international routes. Among them, 12 were international routes from Hangzhou to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya in Japan, Soul in South Korea, Bangkok in Thailand, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Amsterdam in Holland, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Dhaka in Bangladesh, and from Ningbo to Singapore. Seven routes were from Hangzhou to Hong Kong and Macao, from Ningbo to Hong Kong and Macao, from Wenzhou to Hong Kong and Macao, and from Zhoushan to Hong Kong. In 2005, our province handled a total of 13.25 million air passengers and 147,000 take-offs and landings.

In 2005, the total length of inland waterway was 9,652 km, and transported a total of 0.753 billion passenger kilometers.
