Zhang Taiyan Memorial

 

    The memorial locates at the foot of Lichee Apex, Nanping Mountain, beside the famous beauty spot West Lake. Around it, the glorious Jiangxi Temple and provincial key culture protection units "Zhang Changshui Grave","Zhang Taiyan Grave”. The memorial comprises three exhibition halls, a painting and calligraphy hall, some offices and bursaries. Known as scenic spot of garden, the building is surrounded with evergreen cypresses and dancing sweet bays, expressing its sobriety and elegance.

    Mr. Zhang Taiyan (1869-1936), a modern times democratic revolutionist, ideologist and great scholar, was born in Cangqian Township of Yuhang city. He was first named Bingling, but also known as Meishu. This unique memorial collects Mr.Zhang's lifetime story exhibition, documents, ideas and academic studies.

    In the memorial, there are more than 1,000 collections of Zhang's relics donated by his families and descendants, including some 100 calligraphy works, hundred sorts of currencies, a few jade articles, and daily articles for use, abundant manuscripts and letters.
