Xiaoshan Museum

    This is a synthetic museum sited in the old city zone of Xiao Shan. Neighboring with Jiang Temple and Zhi Yuan Temple, the museum occupies 8,000 square meters totally, including 3000-square-meter buildings, a 1050-square-meter exhibition hall, a 150-square-meter culture relics bursary and a 80-square-meter relics specimen room. At present there are more than 3,000 pieces of culture relics in store, comprising 13 state-grade relics, 53 of the second grade and 1,488 pieces above the third grade. The prehistoric relics, chinaware, metal wares, miscellaneous jade articles, paintings and calligraphies dominate the museum collections. Among them, china wares, paintings and calligraphies are the best. The veins-print rockeries unearthed locally, original porcelains and celadon’s of Yue Kiln take the lead in chinaware collections. The celadon’s of Yue Kiln in Han Dynasty and the two Jin Dynasties are entitled "Xiaoshan Kiln" by the academic circle. This district museum also monopolizes celadon warrior and maid tomb figures of the West Jin Dynasty. They stand for the specialty of the museum, and are absolutely worthy of professional studies.
